Each retreat participant takes a turn at assisting in the kitchen. The feedback to date, is that this is a real highlight of the retreat.
Seva is a term used to describe the act of selfless service. The act of seva leads to collective benefit and gain, although it is performed without regard for the outcome of the individual. What better way to practice seva than to contribute to the running of the retreat by assisting in the kitchen or helping with other tasks as they arise. The intention is that if we all contribute to the running of the retreat then we will bond, create connections, and ultimately make a community, that otherwise may not develop if everything is done for you. Each retreat participant will be scheduled on for around 2 hours of seva during the retreat. If we all contribute to the running of the retreat, the cost of the retreat can be kept as affordable as possible!
Please note that silence will be observed each morning until 9am, apart from on Monday morning where silence will be observed until 8:15am. There are many benefits to observing silence, including increased creativity, awareness of self and environment, reflection and sensitivity to flow of life force.
“Silence is a source of great strength.” – Lao Tzu

Testimonials
Testimony from recent retreat participant:
“One of my favourite parts of the retreat was seva, taking your turn to help prepare a meal. I learnt so much from the short time in the kitchen with Laura.
Laura is an amazing and knowledgeable woman when it comes to food and ingredients. I had so much fun watching and learning more about healthy foods and what is actually available out there.”
– Judy

Michelle Robinson
I embarked on my Iyengar Yoga Journey in the late 90’s coming from a group fitness and gym background; I very quickly realised the value in practising this amazing form of yoga with the precision and intelligent use of props creating a safe platform for everyone. Iyengar Yoga creates a balance of strength flexibility with movement and stillness. I love the scientific element mixed with the creative way poses are taught with basic, clear and precise principles aligning a balanced mind and body. I embarked on a 3 year training program in late 2002 and have never looked back, my body, mind and soul finds fulfilment, and forever on this fantastic journey learning, creating, exploring the wonders that BKS Iyengar introduced to our western world. I invite you to give it a go and see where it takes you with passion, honesty, open heart and love.
